Rajkot
Traditional crafts are well-known in Rajkot (silver work, embroidery, and patola weaving). It is located around 45 miles (72 km) southeast of Jamnagar, close to the centre of the Kathiawar Peninsula.
Founded in 1910 by Gondal’s royal physician, this pharmacy manufactures ayurvedic medicines and it’s possible to see all the unique machinery involved, as well as buy medicines for treating hair loss, vertigo, insomnia etc. The founding physician, Brahmaleen Acharyashree, is said to have coined the title ‘Mahatma’ (Great Soul) for Gandhi. Also here is a temple to the goddess Bhuvaneshwari, which was constructed in 1945, and is a Shaktipeeth.
The age old ayurvedic pharmacy center was established by royal physician. You will see rare and wierd machineries involved in the pharmacy. You can also buy the medicines from here for treating various diseases such as vertigo, hair loss, insomnia etc.
The century-old pharmacy is known for many medicines, but it is remembered for the fact that its founding physician, Brahmaleen Acharyashree, prefixed Gandhi Ji’s name with Mahatma.
