Traditional crafts are well-known in Rajkot (silver work, embroidery, and patola weaving). It is located around 45 miles (72 km) southeast of Jamnagar, close to the centre of the Kathiawar Peninsula.
In the mid 19th century, Ramakrishna Paramhans set out to revitalize Vedic philosophy and principles amongst the people of India. Following his steps, the Ramakrishna Ashrama, Rajkot, located on a serene campus offers a value based education, has a public library and an Ayurvedic center, plus guest house and a permanent exhibition showcasing the life of Shri Ramakrishna Paramhans.
